 What to do when tragedy strikes

  Job 1:1-8 First Baptist Church, Millburn, NJ

Today, Lorena would have been 69 years old. We often refer to a person’s lifespan with their birthday, a dash and the date of their death. 

So, for Lorena it’s Monday July 5, 1954-Monday May 8, 2023. What we do with that ‘dash’ is very important. Lorena trusted Christ at age six and lived faithfully for those 68 plus years. Today, she lives with her Lord in Heaven. I and all who know Christ will be joining her soon. 

As Randy Alcorn would put it, Lorena lived for the line (eternity) not the dot (this present world) God used Lorena to strengthen my faith on this earth. 

Now the Lord through her memory is helping to strengthen me in my sure hope of Heaven. 

Thanking God this July 5th for the promise of Revelation 21:4 ‘He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.’
